Library News

Dear Parents,

Students at Castle Heights Elementary celebrated reading and the birthday of Dr. Seuss with some extraordinary  literacy activities.  Activities began with a book fair which always generates excitement about reading.  Read Across America Day followed the book fair.  Many guest readers from the area visited classrooms to share a favorite book or story.  The  activities concluded with the gift of a free book for every student.  Funding for these books was provided through generous donations from local businesses, parents, and the Castle Heights PTO.

The spring Scholastic Book Fair closed with record sales!  The sales total after tax was $11, 959.52, which means our profit is $2,989.88. We will use these funds to purchase new and popular titles and AR Quizzes for our library collection.  Children are always excited to  find new books when they arrive and are available for check out.

We had 33 guest readers who  visit our school and shared a great book with students during our Read Across America Celebration. Everyone seemed to enjoy the excitement.  Mr. Trice and the classroom escorts read  Pete the Cat to our guest readers before they went to their reading assignments.

Again, what a great book fair—a big thanks to all of you for your generous support and especially to our book fair volunteers!              You make all the difference!

HAVE  A WONDERFUL SPRING BREAK!
