Arrrggggg!!! Get ready to join Castle Heights Elementary Title I students for PIRATE NIGHT!! We need Mrs. Green’s and my students (accompanied by an adult) to come join us for a night of reading fun. Tuesday, May 1st 6 p.m. in the Cafeteria at Castle Heights. Forms will be coming home Monday, April 23rd and will need to be returned by Friday, April 27th. Please no siblings for this. We really want to focus on the student and the parent. Thank you!!!

Just wanted you to know that I am currently serving both schools. Even though my account says Castle Heights at the top, please know that I am working at Byars Dowdy in the mornings. My goal this year is to have First Grade weekly words to cover as well as Words to Know (trick words) and a story passage posted on a special page. Along with the standards the classroom teacher and I are covering, I hope to have some additional websites for you to explore and help your child at home. Meanwhile, please, Please, PLEASE practice the study sheets that go home every Monday. This will greatly increase your child’s vocabulary as well as phonemic awareness and reading. Byars Dowdy will hold their annual Parent Meeting Thursday, Sept. 8th. PTO will be selling pizza at 5:30. We will all meet in the gym to hear from Mr. Blades, Director of Federal Programming for LSSD and from PTO at 6 p.m. Open House will be from 6:30-7:00 p.m. Please come and support our school.
