Mr. Terry Trice, Principal & Dr. Donna Shaffer, Asst. Principal

Mr. Terry Trice, a lifelong resident of Wilson County, has been principal of Castle Heights since the doors opened 15 years ago. Terry has over 30 years of educational experience in multiple grade level settings along with several years of coaching experience. Terry’s belief in each child’s potential is one of his greatest attributes as a leader.

Terry states, “As we begin the next chapter of Castle Heights, I am honored to be a part of each child’s life as they begin and continue with their educational success. As we collaborate with the teaching staff of a combined educational experience of over 300 years, Castle Heights will continue to be one of the best schools, not only within Wilson County, but nationally as well. Our focus remains on assisting each child to be successful both academically and socially.”

Dr. Donna Shaffer has returned home to LSSD, where she began her education career in the early 1990s. As a classroom teacher, Donna was one of the first teachers to instruct at Castle Heights Upper Elementary. Donna’s classroom experience includes multiple grade levels, instructing the elementary and middle school Extend program, and serving as the system Instructional Technology Coordinator all within the Lebanon Special School District. Donna is returning with 4 years of experience in PreK-12 grade school administration outside of LSSD.

Donna states, “To return home to team with Principal, Mr. Terry Trice, and such a wonderful district that has a direct purpose of making decisions that are good for children is an exciting place to be in my educational career. I look forward to being a part of this new chapter of Castle Heights as we move to an elementary PreK-5th grade environment, but more importantly, being a part of each child’s educational experience. It is our goal to assist each child to prepare for their successful future and to create an environment where each child thrives.”
